Creation of an Anthology

All books begin with a single word. As our Creative Writing MA Team gathered to produce our first Anthology, and with help of a surveying monkey fed on virtual bananas, the one word theme ‘rumours’ guided us to our title ‘Uncertain Truths’.

The stage was set and we invited contributions, including our cohort group and second year MA students. We decided to invite writers who lecture on the Creative Writing MA at Nottingham Trent University and other professional writers from outside the university. In readiness, we sharpened our virtual pens and rolled up our sleeves to take on editing, proofreading, design, social media and tasks to move the project onwards.

We decided to aim for a broad range of writing including fiction, short stories, poetry, flash fiction and script.

The cover design for the book was conceived by Lee Skinner, our talented in-team artist. His original painting will be reproduced to help raise funding for the book’s media campaign. Lee also produced our website which is rapidly filling with interesting facts and features about the book and its writers.

Nottingham City of Literature team contributed support with our media campaign, promoting Uncertain Truths as we progress through print production to the launch in November.

A collaborative story by our cohort, will feature at the heart of the book. This has flown from inbox to inbox, allowing us to have fun with the creative writing process along the way.

Next steps will take us to printing and selling our book to our eager audience.

Watch this space as we progress.
